Thing of beauty: Architect suspends 12,000 wooden sticks in interior of Madrid bakery

What Virginia Del Barco has done to a bakery in Madrid is truly astounding and deserves accolades and a special mention in special blogs. Just saying. Have a look for yourself, this is a bakery that is treated like you would a fine dining, Michelin star restaurant. The owners wanted this bakery to look unique so Virginia suspended 12,000 wooden sticks within this bakery in Madrid. They decided to stick to magenta the bakery’s corporate colour and created something so visually impressive. Another cherry on the cake (pun intended) is that it’s located in the historic building Alcala de Henares. Hence for the decor they needed something that would keep up with the history of the exteriors and maintains a beauty indoors.

The suspended wooden sticks are more like an art installation between the 150-year-old-framed walls without eclipsing them. Other than this astonishing art work, Virginia del Barco, has designed the lighting, a part of the furniture, like the chairs, the stools, the shelves, the bartop, the whiteboards, and the light boxes in the façade. A thing of true beauty and grace.
