Its clearly an era of cats; be it Instagram, Facebook or about being famous, the cats are winning hands down and the dogs continue to drool in distress. I am definitely a dog person, which I am not but if it comes to picking one of the two four-legged friends then its got to be dogs. Just like I hate snobbish, haughty humans, I also loathe cats who just wander with an air and seem so full of themselves. Sadly, the cats have got major support with University of Chicago’s study that has provided evidence that many cat lovers have been preaching all along, cats are better than dogs. This study found a negative correlation between the population decline of Canidae (dogs) and the introduction of the Felidae (cats) family to North America over 40 million years ago. This means that as cat population grew in North America, dog populations waned. Don’t misconstrue this information as cats killing dogs but a variety of factors that led to Dogs loosing to cats. Study measured a bunch of different factors including changes to body size, temperature, and competition amongst dogs and competition with similar animals such as the false saber-toothed cat, the bear dog, and cats have had the deepest impact hands down.
At the end of the day it doesn’t matter if you’re a cat owner or dog lover, its about knowing our pets and their history better to make it a happier pet. So the next time a dog/cat debate starts and you’re siding with the dog make sure you run and hide incase the cat person has read this information.
