French Fashion Law gets evolved, bans ultra skinny models for good

France is doing what Italy, Spain and Israel have already done. They are adopting a law to ban excessively thin fashion models. That’s great news for girls who are impressionable and think of everything that these models do as right. It can be good news for some starving models as well who are dying to gorge on some yummy French food but couldn’t. On a serious note, the laws state that models applying for a job in the country must furnish a medical certificate proving their overall health and that their Body Mass Index is appropriate for the métier. These laws are rather stringent and breaching them will lead to dire consequences. If modelling agencies or fashion houses fail to follow these new laws it can result in six months imprisonment and a fine of 75,000 euros, or $81,076 at current exchange.

That’s not all, if commercial photographs are retouched to make them thinner or larger, then you are going to face punishment. Any violation of this will result in a fine starting at 37,500 euros, or $40,535, and possibly going up to 30 percent of the spend on the advertising. Apparently the laws regarding photographs will be affective by 1st Jan 2017 latest.
