Have you heard of Seasonal affective disorder? If you’re living in an area that doesn’t see much sun then you may know of this condition or might also be suffering from it. Lack of bright sunlight can have a lot more I’ll effects that one can imagine; especially during fall and winter seasons it causes people to feel lethargic and depressed, alongside battle sleeping issues. A company called Solenica is owned by CEO Diva Tommei who herself was victim to SAD and that made her invent Lucy, a solar powered robot designed to offer a literal ray of hope for SAD sufferers. This contraption works like a mini sun for homes that miss even a simple ray of light. Lucy is definitely your ray of hope as this sphere houses a highly reflective flat mirror designed to automatically track the movement of the sun throughout the day. It emits this reflected sunlight in a dispersed manner as opposed to magnified to create an even and warm atmosphere.
Lucy is extremely low-maintenance, it doesn’t require you to do much except placing it near a window or even outside to reflect light across and inward into normally darkened corners. Yes, Lucy doesn’t require to be plugged in it is 100% solar powered. Solencia’s Lucy is currently available for pre-order for $199, and will ship with an accompanying app that will tell users about your home’s illumination needs.
