Pepsi(yes, the soda company) has entered the digital space with its own Android Smartphone. Though it has Pepsi branding, the Pepsi Phone is part of a crowdfunding campaign by Koobee and is aimed exclusively at the Chinese market. There will be two versions of the phone, according to the report: the Phone P1 is the regular version while another one, called the Phone P1s, is going to be compatible with China Unicom’s FDD-LTE support. Apart from this difference, the two versions will share the same specs.
Both versions of the phone will have a 5.5-inch 2.5D curved display with 1,080 x 1,920 pixels resolution. Under the hood, they will be powered by a 1.7 GHz octa-core MediaTek (MT6592) chipset paired with 2 GB of RAM. Internal storage is only 16 GB but is expandable up to 64 GB through a microSD card. Main rear cameras of the phones are 13-megapixel shooters, while their selfie cameras are 5-megapixel shooters. It is powered by a 3,000 mAh battery. The phones will also sport a fingerprint reader that is located under the main camera.
Connectivity options include 4G LTE, 3G, Bluetooth, GPRS/EDGE, GPS and micro-USB. The devices have dual-SIM card slots. The manufacturer’s own dido OS 6.1 which is based on the Android 5.1 Lollipop comes pre-installed with the phones.
