Trending in Japan: Squishy baby faces mimic rice balls

I wish I was A rice ball baby; haven’t you seen them yet? Fret not, we will tell you all about it here on chiclaunches (where else?). It’s a trend that I secretly hopes never fails and involves squished faces of cute babies. That’s enough to sell an idea right? It started with Japanese comedian Masahiro Ehara posted a series of tweets in June this year in which he squished the faces of his children to mirror the shape of a Japanese rice ball, or onigiri. Understandably, it became quite the rage with everyone wanting to flaunt their cute, chubby cherubs by making them look the cutest rice ball ever. This idea became very vital on Twitter giving rice to the meme Rice Ball Babies.

Like most fads this one too has witnessed some bizarre experimentations like people doing the same to adult faces (shudders). Some have tried to create a rice ball face with bats and dogs. There’s nothing and no one as cute as little babies. Period.
