I’m a die hard Tommy Hilfiger fan, always have been and now after learning of their latest development, always will be. Tommy Hilfiger has launched a line of adaptive clothing for differently abled kids. Credit can’t go to the popular brand alone, it’s also because of the efforts put in by fashion designer Mindy Scheier, founder of the nonprofit Runway of Dreams. Her 11-year-old son, Oliver has a rare form of muscular dystrophy and he played his mothers muse and helped this noble idea take form. What makes this a big deal is that it’s for the first time a major clothing line has created clothing for people with different abilities. The collection is sensitively designed with attention paid to what will make things easy for these kids; for eg. they have magnetic closures instead of buttons, adjustable pant legs to fit foot braces and adjustable sleeves for the limb different.
The collection includes 22 pieces for boys and girls, sizes 4 to 20; the tops, pants, jeans and dresses are adaptations of other Tommy Hilfiger styles. The adaptive clothing line is priced just like their regular styles and is available for purchase.
